Filters

Fuel: When changing the fuel filter, you can avoid the need to prime the system by filling the new filter up with fresh diesel. Let the medium soak up the fuel, top it up again, and screw it on hand tight. When you start the engine, race it for a bit. It may stagger some at first, but should smooth out after a minute.

Oil: When changing the oil filter, you basically do the same thing, but this time to avoid dry starts (starting the engine without proper lubrication). Again, simply fill the new filter with oil before screwing it on. It's a simple thing that will prevent needless wear on the engine.
